About Ms. Smith

Hello, I’m Ms. Smith! I am so excited to be the new STEAM teacher at UDA. I cannot wait to get to know the UDA families and students in TK-8th grade. I recently moved to San Diego from Kansas City, Missouri and I could not have picked a better place to start the next journey in my life! I am recently engaged, and moved to San Diego due to my fiance being in the Navy. I am loving the San Diego weather and exploring the amazing city!

I have been in the education world for six years. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in 3rd grade and inspired by an amazing relationship that I had with my teacher. I am a teacher that is a firm believer of building relationships with students and I’m thrilled to get to know the UDA students! I completed my undergrad at Missouri State University in elementary education, with an emphasis in technology and project based learning. I then continued my education and received my Masters in Educational Leadership. I started teaching 5th grade, and then moved to a 3rd grade position. I am very excited to teach STEAM at UDA! This is my first year teaching STEAM, and I look forward to the new change and challenge it will bring!

When teaching is not taking over my free time, I enjoy spending the summers at the lake! I love to water ski, wake board, and barefoot water ski. I also enjoy traveling and exploring the town with my fiance and our friends.
