About Mr. McCarroll:
Hi! A little bit about me: I grew up in a military family which meant I had the opportunity to live in multiple places all over the country including Boston, Virginia, Northern California and finally San Diego. I graduated from Poway High School as a 4-year Varsity Lacrosse play and went on to play for Whittier College, a NCAA division III school based in Los Angeles.
At Whittier, I found my passion for history where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History in 2010. What really opened my eyes was the different approach that was taken to studying history and the lenses to study perspective and the unique cultures of humanity. My educational journey came full circle in 2018 when I earned my Master of Education from the University of San Diego and found a home at UDA most recently!
My experience working with students began in 2011 when I took up coaching lacrosse and teaching students from grade 12 all the way down to youth levels. This really set me up for my future as an educator as I uncovered my passion for working with students.
Outside of my career, I enjoy exploring and living an active lifestyle. I love to work out whether that be in the gym, biking up the coast or taking a yoga class. Most recently, I spent three weeks South Africa where I visited Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and the famous Kruger National Park. I have a profound passion for wildlife and was absolutely thrilled to spend six days on safari in Kruger where I saw everything from Leopards to huge herds of Elephants. I can’t wait to go back to Africa and possibly visit somewhere new such as Kenya.
