Seth Schiering graduated from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York with a BS in Childhood Education and then returned for a MS in Special Education and Childhood Education Birth – 2. However, his educational journey began at a much younger age when he was himself a struggling learner in primary and secondary school. Since graduating, Seth has been a published author and lectured internationally/nationally on the topics of special education and differentiated instruction.
Upon graduating, Seth found a job working in the inner city of New York. Working with children from a wide range of academic, socio-economical, and developmental backgrounds. Throughout the years, Seth has always maintained his belief that all children have the ability to learn. With this in mind, Seth continued to develop and hone his skillset over the years working with diverse populations throughout New York City.
In 2014, Seth and family decided California and no more snow might be just what the doctor order. They were right! Having spent 3 years working at a charter in Otay Ranch, Seth assisted 4 students work themselves out of the special education program. Each one now has a successful academic career in general education. Recently, Seth completed his first year with Ideate High Academy and shared in fellow students and teachers successes throughout the year. It is his hope to continue with that same track record of success as he undertakes the special education program at UDA.
While working with ID8, Seth finished an education administration program with National University and hopes to further his career working with Urban Discovery Academy. In his free time he enjoys traveling, working out, and spending time with his loving wife Carolina. Seth has enjoyed his time with UDA and hopes to further help the school/program continue to develop and grow in the coming months as the Lead Education Specialist for both UDA and ID8.
