My name is Heather Coates, UDA's new Transitional Kindergarten teacher! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful team!
I was born and raised in San Diego. I grew up knowing I wanted to be a teacher! I used to force my older brother to play school and even had my own white board. My first job was at an after school program and since then I haven't been able to leave the education field for too long! I went to San Diego State University and graduated with a BS in Sociology. After graduating I began my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at National University. Once I completed my credential program I earned my Masters in Educational Technology. I began substitute teaching after I completed my education where I taught grades TK-12th grade. I have previously taught my own Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. I am passionate about teaching students to love school. I believe instilling this love in their first experiences in school will keep them excited and passionate for years to come.
I have a wonderful family that I enjoy spending time with and a one year old dog that keeps me extremely busy! When I am not teaching I love being outdoors and adventuring. I enjoy going to Padres games, reading, art, spending time with friends and family.
I am looking forward to this school year and the chance to meet you and your child!
