Mr. Beluso is excited to continue at Urban Discovery Schools as one of our secondary science teachers. He has a background in cognitive science and gained teaching experience leading project-based STEAM lessons, creating college-prep curriculum, and aiding instruction on research and writing skills prior to completing UCSD’s Master of Education program with credentials in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. These experiences inform his unique approach on teaching science, which revolves around engaging students' curiosity about the world around them and helping them build skills applicable to their future. He is particularly passionate about empowering students of identities that are historically underrepresented in STEM and taking care of student mental health. Outside of the classroom Mr. Beluso loves cooking and music, and looks forward to incorporating lessons on cooking and food equity into his teaching as a way to connect with students more deeply.
