Ms. Olson is a new member of the UDS community, bringing with her a Bachelor’s in Marine Biology and Masters of Teaching Secondary Science from UC San Diego. Ms. Olson is originally from the Bay Area but has been in San Diego for six years and enjoys the ocean, nature, and hiking opportunities San Diego offers. Her personal interests heavily revolve around science, and arts and crafts. Ms. Olson graduated in 2020 and can relate her personal school experience with her students who were in school during the global pandemic. Ms. Olson was a student teacher in a middle school science classroom in the Sweetwater Union High School District. Her most recent experience is with a non-profit housing company Community HousingWorks where she was an afterschool program group leader who hosted virtual community meetings with elementary age residents. This experience alongside the pandemic solidified Ms. Olson’s passion for connecting with students and helping them become their best selves. At Urban Discovery Schools, Ms. Olson is excited to share her love of science and art with students as well as to live UDS' mission of creating change-makers.
