About Mrs. Buie

Dear UDS Families,

Megan Buie has been an educator for more than 9 years.  She has dedicated her career in helping students progress to their full potential through her passion in curriculum development, restorative practice and design thinking. Mrs. Buie not only focuses on curriculum development and assessment, but provides student interventions through her guidance and direction of the Student Success Team process. Her goal is to ensure students and families are given the right tools and strategies to help them succeed. She has also worked to develop a new social-emotional program that embodies the vision of Urban Discovery Schools.

With a B.S. in Liberal Studies, M.S. in Educational Psychology, as well as a Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Megan Buie brings an array of skills in building engaging and rigorous curriculum to meet the needs of all learners. She has spent most of her career as an elementary educator, with experience not only as a classroom teacher in Kindergarten through sixth grade, but in Special Education, reading intervention, and administration as Assistant Principal. She started at Urban Discovery in 2015 as a fourth grade teacher and after three years joined the leadership team, where she continues to gain invaluable experience as part of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Transitional Kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Why UDS?

UDS is an outstanding urban public school that values Restorative Practice and Design Thinking.  Design Thinking is a true passion of mine and I'm honored to support the classrooms in inquiry-based projects that explore the wonders of engineering design, mathematical reasoning, and develop real world solutions that are relevant to today’s world. As part of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment team, my goal is for all students to continue to have a love for learning, always give their personal best effort, and build on the individual skills that will help them succeed in their futures.  I believe that all students have the ability to succeed and learn, and it is rewarding to watch all students grow.  Our parents, families, and community members are a vital part that makes our school so unique and an inspiring place to learn.  Please let me know if there is any way I can help to support your child during their time at UDS.

I'm looking forward to another great year at UDA!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Megan Buie
