Hello First Grade Families!
My name is Emily Pehl also known as Ms. Pehl (pronounced Peel). I am a returning UDA teacher transitioning to first grade. I was born and raised here in our beautiful city of San Diego. I received my Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Psychology and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of San Diego. Through my educational experience, I was introduced to UDA and instantly fell in love with the school's mission and community. I believe that PBL is ideal for a genuine learning experience in which students lead and drive the curriculum based on their own curiosities, explorations, and collaboration with professionals, their classmates, and teachers. Last year, I was hired as a fifth grade long term substitute teacher and was eventually hired on full time to finish the year. Most of my experience has been working in kindergarten and first grade so I am extremely excited to be returning to the littles.
When I'm not in my classroom, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, running, spending time with friends and family, and reading. Most weekends I start my mornings with a walk with my mom or sister with a coffee in hand. You can also find me at the zoo a lot! I love animals and I have a cat named Honey.
I am so excited to start our new and exciting year of first grade and get to know my fabulous first graders and families. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns or information you would like me to know about you and your child.
Hope you all enjoyed your summer!
