We have an exciting announcement to make as we prepare to kick off the 2024-25 school year. Through an unprecedented new partnership with UC San Diego, we will soon have this top-ranked university embedded right here on the Urban Discovery Academy campus! This is big news, as we are one of the few K-12 schools in the country offering this incredible university-on-campus educational experience to students.
Benefits of the partnership include:
- Opportunities for high school students to complete career certification coursework in various fields through UC San Diego Extended Studies FUTURES Programs;
- Opportunities for all UDA high school students to complete university-transferrable credits through UCSD's Discover Courses;
- Both program options available for FREE, on campus during regular school hours
- Free credit-bearing educational workshops for parents;
- Professional educator training and supplemental credentialing programs for our educators to further enhance learning and update skills to our serve students most effectively.
All of these benefits for our students and our community is on top of the incredible partnership we launched last fall with Reality Changers, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that prepares youth to become first-generation college graduates. With both UC San Diego and Reality Changers now embedded on-site on the UDA campus, we have created a one-of-a-kind Community Education Hub in downtown San Diego, serving the needs of our families as well as the larger community.
We are doing something no other school in the region is doing. We are proud to offer these expanded resources and support for our community, all under one roof, to help our students and families thrive.
